Expertise
At NETSCo, our experienced team of maritime engineers thrives on tackling complex and one-of-a-kind challenges. We work closely with our clients to ensure a clear understanding of their requirements and approach each task with a determination to achieve the best possible outcome.
One of our most intriguing projects involved the transformation of the historic Steamship Kearsage, dating back to 1894, into Hornblower’s restaurant. Recently, this very same vessel was acquired by Cleveland Metroparks and safely relocated to its new home at Wildwood Park after a thorough redesign. Additionally, our engineers played a vital role in ensuring a smooth and successful relocation of this iconic barge.
With over a century of rich history behind it, this project is just one example of the impressive portfolio of specialized vessel design, hybrid technology design, and energy efficiency projects that NETSCo has undertaken. Whether we’re restoring historical ferries or conceiving philanthropic hospital vessels, we approach each endeavor with the same level of engineering expertise and commitment to service and satisfaction.
At NETSCo, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional service and satisfaction to our clients. Our unwavering commitment is evident in our track record of successfully meeting unique challenges and delivering custom solutions.
Party Boat Case Study
The client, a startup company, wanted to understand the cost of creating a custom-designed passenger vessel for use as a party boat in Cleveland’s waters. The startup approached NETSCo to develop a concept design based on their input. NETSCo undertook the challenge and developed a design that met the client’s expectations.
NETSCo conceptualized a small passenger vessel that complied with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Subchapter T requirements for boats under 100 gross tons. The design was a multi-hull pontoon vessel that could comfortably hold approximately 36 passengers. NETSCo considered many details such as structural arrangement, stability, seaworthiness, and aesthetics to deliver a high-quality, customized party boat.
NETSCo completed a comprehensive study that included the conceptual design and cost estimate to design and build the party boat. The firm worked to ensure the vessel’s design was appealing to the eye and had excellent structural integrity. The team also considered the vessel’s stability as well as ensuring that the vessel met all safety requirements and regulations while still providing ample deck space for entertainment purposes. The client was kept updated on the progress of the project and had the chance to provide feedback at every stage of the design.
NETSCo’s Party Boat Project is a testament to the firm’s commitment to delivering innovative and customized solutions to clients. Unfortunately, as with many custom-designed vessels, the project did not materialize due to cost considerations. However, despite the project’s non-completion, NETSCo delivered a high-quality party boat concept that met all client specifications and safety regulations prescribed by relevant authorities. We are proud of our team’s efforts and expertise in bringing the client’s vision to life, and we look forward to taking on more challenging projects like this in the future.
