Organized by the SNAME Student Steering Committee (SSC) and sponsored by NETSCo Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, the competition challenged students to solve a maritime design/build task under strict guidelines. Within two hours, participants had to design and construct fully functional models that were later evaluated through timed runs and several other performance criteria. This hands-on challenge was not only engaging but also encouraged collaboration and practical application of engineering skills in a competitive and enjoyable environment.
NETSCo has been a proud sponsor of the Student Design Competition for 15 years, with a clear mission—to inspire and support the next generation of maritime professionals. By introducing students to real-world challenges and fostering collaborative problem-solving, NETSCo provides an invaluable opportunity for participants to explore the exciting and rewarding field of maritime engineering.
