GMCG Reports IMO Sub-Committee Completes Draft Guidelines for Methanol for Ship Fuel

IMO’s sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC 5) has completed draft interim safety guidelines for ships using methanol as a low-flashpoint fuel. Formal approval is anticipated for the IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) in 2020.

Currently, there are already eight large ships trading internationally operating on methanol as fuel and at least four more expected to enter into service in 2019 so priority was urged to finalize the draft. Read more at https://www.facebook.com/gmcg.global/posts/520629995017067?__tn__=K-R
